With toes twitching to get travelling we're sure the question of which surfboards to take take has crossed your mind! Here at Boardshop we have taken it upon ourselves to share with you a few of our favourite travel surfboards. LOST V2 SHORTBOARD (DOMESTICATED) Dimensions - 5ft 11 x 19.75 x 2.44 Ability - Intermediate/AdvancedVolume - 29.8 ltsConditions - Anything from waist to well overhead high waves The lost V2 was originally shaped by Matt for himself. He wanted a board that had all the characteristics of a traditional shortboard but still allowing him to keep his wave count up whilst surfing crowded breaks. Matt started out with a hybrid template but stretched it, narrowed the nose and added more tail rocker into a squash tail. This allowed him to pick up waves easily yet still produce critical manoeuvres whilst tucked tight in the pocket. This board was then downsized and sent out to a load of team riders who proved it does the job by winning many events on this board. The V2 is at home under the feet of any domestic intermediate to advance surfer and will give you a little bit more glide over flat spots to enable you to surf it in multiple conditions. CHANNEL ISLANDS FRED RUBBLE (ROUNDED PIN) Dimensions - 5ft 11 x 19 x 2.312 Ability - Intermediate/AdvancedVolume - 27.2 ltsConditions - Anything from knee to head high waves This awesome board was a favourite of Kelly's during his 11th world title tour. This board will go well in a large variety of breaks. You can ride it at hollow beachies or pumping reefs and also as an added bonus the Rubble comes with a 5 fin set up so you can play with multiple combos.Originally this board was developed with a squash tail but now with a rounded pin it will generate a lot more drive though turns and will hold nicely in hollow surf. The Fred Rubble rounded pin has been used by truly some of the greatest surfers around. This board will travel the globe with you and become one of your all time favourites and go to boards! FIREWIRE TIMBERTEK UNIBROW Dimensions - 6ft 0 x 19.75 x 2.625 Ability - Intermediate/AdvancedVolume - 33 ltsConditions - Anything from waist high to overhead waves A board that was designed for performance, the Unibrow oozes all the characteristics of a great all round shortboard without sacrificing paddle power and planing speed. A mixture of Dan mann's personal board and the dominator has created a board that will work in a variety of surf conditions that will appeal to the travelling surfer. With its dropped rail profile and aggressive single concave from the nose through to a double concave at the fins, you will find this board quick down the line but very responsive from the tail. This board is also of timbertek construction which creates a lightweight surfboard whilst dramatically reducing exterior lamination to help reduce carbon footprints. CHILLI ODYSSEY Dimensions - 6'0 x 19 x 2 3/8 Ability - Intermediate/AdvancedVolume - 28.6 ltsConditions - Anything from waist to over head high waves The Odyssey is a careful blend of speed and manoeuvrability without a sacrifice on volume. The slight added nose width aids in paddling which will help increase your wave count whilst the single to double concave combined with the wider rounded tail will generate speed and fluidity to your surfing. This all adds up to a board that is designed to put smiles on faces and will keep you wanting to get back in the water time and again. The formula is very simple by adding volume where needed. By infusing the added volume with features that will only compliment this fluid board, you could find yourself using it as your first choice stick. Back to blog
