Fish Surfboard

Fish surfboards have been on the surfing scene for years and initially shot to fame in the late seventies and early eighties. Today the fish surfboard is available in a variety of different styles each with different characteristics but ultimately with a similar riding feel.

The retro fish surfboards of the eighties are still used and enjoyed today, with the twin fin design being a popular postcard image. More recently the rocker lines and fin options have changed with four and five fin designs available. Fish boards are fast, loose and encourage the rider to be aggressive in his rail engagement.

The fish surfboard is a popular choice with many surfers because it helps to develop important surfing wave riding skills from day one. Once these skills are learnt on a fish they can easily be adapted for a smaller board and different narrower tail design boards.

With such a strong heritage behind them the retro fish surfboards have come back into fashion as surfing has moved full circle with regards to style and wave riding experience. The shapers of the seventies and eighties definitely struck gold with the fish shapes as they do add a sense of cruising to your riding.
