Aipa surfboards are one of founding fathers of surfboard design innovation. The family dynasty started by Dad Ben in the 1970s in Hawaii, 1971 saw his introduction of the swallow tail in surfboard design, further innovations followed soon after most notably The Sting!

This design is the foundation for the winged boards we see today, back in the day it changed the whole perception of how a performance surfboard should be set up. Legendary surfers like Larry Bertlemann, Mark Liddell, Buttons Kaluhiokalani, Dane Kealoha and others bought Aipa boards and The Sting to global prominence and the DNA of the brand is still strong today.

The sad passing of Ben Aipa didn’t mean the end of the brand, youngest son Duke continues the great work and innovation that the Aipa name is based on. The latest development is the work with Surftech’s outstanding board building skillset, a range of boards, the Dark Twinn, Wrecking Ball, Big Boy Sting and Big Brother Sting are now available in a range of construction technologies. Surftech’s continual innovation to make boards better sits so well with Aipa’s DNA, a surfing colab that brings great surfboards to us all.
