Surfboards Buyers Guide Lost Tube Pig Surfboard Review Back to blog The Lost Tube Pig surfboard is the latest performance surfboard from Matt Biolos under his Lost Mayhem surfboard label. So what is the Tube Pig all about? The name is a giveaway, it’s a surfboard designed for punchy powerful waves, especially tubes! The Tube Pig surfboard has some distinctive characteristics which make it particularly suitable for these kinds of waves. It was developed with team surfer Taj Burrow to give him a board with a bit more meat and front foot drive. The key characteristics of the Tube Pig are a narrower hip going into the tail, a more advanced wide point and thicker nose. The nose of the Tube Pig is a little thicker than the tail, a feature which allows more front foot drive, a great help for those dry hair barrel exits! The board also has reduced concave and increased rocker, this allows a straighter rail which improves hold especially when coupled with the rounded tail featured on this board. It differs to a traditional step up surfboard model in that it has no extra width than a standard high performance shortboard which allows the surfer more control and a more reactive ride. You’re going to surf the Lost Tube Pig around the same length as your standard go to shortboard, the profile of the board adds thickness but not width so the volume will be up a little. Fin wise go for something that relates to the riders weight, typically in a 6’ 0” Tube Pig at 28 litres you’d choose a Futures John John Techflex fin in size medium. If you’re planning on travelling with the Tube Pig have a look at our range of travel surfboard bags, the Global surfboard bag range is sourced exclusively for Boardshop to give your board 10mm airline proof protection at an unbeatable price.
