SOFT SURFBOARDS... EXPLAINED!

Softboards are a popular choice with new surfers, families and kids, they represent the safest option of all surfboard designs. Soft surfboards are popular because they make getting out into the waves fun and exciting. The boards perform in the same way as any normal surfboard. Softboard surfboards are constructed from closed cell foam with a smooth poly base and soft fins. The big plus is that if you bump the board with head or knee the foam reduces the impact and so helps to build confidence in the water.

MOULDED SURFBOARDS... EXPLAINED

Bic dura-tec surfboards are created using a moulded polyethylene shell filled with polyurethane foam which is found in a regular fibreglass surfboard. This means that your new surfboard will survive dings and damage that would see a fibreglass board out of the water requiring repairs. These moulded boards have plenty of volume to make paddling easier and will last a lifetime, great prices too!

EPOXY SURFBOARDS... EXPLAINED

Epoxy surfboards have an EPS foam core with a tough gel coat outer shell. These boards are buoyant and extremely durable and a more refined shape than the moulded Bic boards. The rails have more definition which makes it easier to initiate turns and a gives a smoother transition. The volume is distributed differently through the board which gives better balance and allows for easier progression. The name of the game with these boards is performance at a great price.

P/U SURFBOARDS... EXPLAINED

PU (polyurethane) boards are constructed from a foam core wrapped in glass fibre and sealed with resin. The foam core, the blank is either shaped by hand or machine which means that PU boards have the most refined shapes and are the most performance orientated shapes. They are not as durable as moulded or epoxy boards but offer a higher level of performance and easier progression. We've put together a great range of PU boards suitable for everyone from beginners to advanced surfers at the best possible prices.
