The Lost Quiver Killer: Surfboard Review

The Lost Quiver Killer surfboard by Matt Biolos.

Following in the wake of the massively successful Short Round, the Quiver Killer has been produced to satisfy the needs of surfers who love their Short Round but would like a little more performance to cope with the better quality waves they encounter on their travels and in the more demanding winter conditions here in Europe.

The requests were coming in thick and fast for round tail versions of the Short Round, with a little more rocker and some fine tuning of the nose and tail outlines. Matt had delivered quite a few of these "thumb" tail boards and was getting some really positive feed back, it was at this point he realized this board deserved its own name and the Quiver Killer was born.

The Starting point was the standard Short Round, the length was reduced by a couple of inches, the nose to tail rocker was increased, the nose was tucked in a bit and then the tail was changed to a forgiving "thumb" tail. As with any surfboard the less rail submerged at any one time increases the boards ability to turn faster and easier and enables it to fit in the more critical sections of the wave. No drastic changes were made to the width at the front fins so the board still kept it's small wave capabilities. The result is a very kind-on-the-eye, minimalistic shape with a continuous curve. The key is the surface are and volume are still generous so the Quiver Killer still performs really well in all but the smallest conditions when you'll have to break out your true groveller.

The new branding and decal package for the Quiver Killer is based on the same bullet theme, the decal was changed from the stubby speeding bullet of the ShortRound to the stretched, pointy Spitzer influenced round.

The Quiver Killer...a shot straight to the heart.
