The Firewire/Machado MachadoCado surfboard in the excellent Helium technology. Rob Machado strikes again with another super usable surfboard that is undoubtedly going to have mass appeal. This is a proper fun small wave board that is loaded with flow but can be surfed hard too.The MachadoCado is a board designed for small to medium sized waves(knee to head high), its wider than your standard board through the main part of the board running into a wide squash tail, the tail however is quite thinned out. The wide point is at the centre of the board and the nose is fuller than a standard hybrid or shortboard. The double concave starts ahead of the centre of the board and runs through the board into a vee through the tail, its a pretty deep concave, again deeper than you'll find on a standard board. The rocker is ironed out to be pretty flat with low entry and exit rocker. The rails however are more pulled down than you might expect on what Firewire describe as a grovel board. So what does this all mean in practical terms? The flat outline, wide tail, deep double concave are all going to give you great paddle power and wave catching ability. So you get all the grovel advantages you would expect but the turned down rails and thinned out tail give you the ability to properly surf it rail to rail. You'll no doubt see Machado going vertical in perfect little Cali waves in his videos, you might not being doing that but it 100% is a board that can be surfed hard. You'll have heaps of glide when up and riding and of course its going to be fast and in the excellent Helium tech it'll hold its speed through turns too. There are real similarities to the Lost Puddle Jumper which has been a bench mark groveler for years, that board never disappoints and this one won't either. The MachadoCado is set up as a thruster so you can surf it with a standard fin set up or of course as a twin or twin + trailer, choose your poison! This board is going to be a hit in the wave pool too, its very agile and carries speed well, just what you need. The MachadoCado looks to be a great Hybrid board that will generate speed and grovel in the weaker waves but also be a lot of fun to surf.Firewire’s Helium tech is all about making an already amazing set of construction options even better. Its lighter, seems strong, no signs of any pressure marks at all, and very fast. High Density Aerospace Composite Deck Skins and a new Paulownia/Balsa mix on the rails gives a faster flex response. Having surfed the tech in a couple of different models it does feel light but the speed through a stiffer feel and responsiveness is exceptional, Helium is here to stay. This is the pinnacle Firewire construction, a sustainable alternative to carbon, their most durable construction with elevated response and superior surfing feel. The team here have surfed pretty much every board in the Slater and Firewire range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Firewire surfboards. We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Firewire, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to [email protected] or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250. And don't forget we offer interest free finance on all new premium surfboards
