Description

The Gerry Lopez Something Fishy in True Ride tech surfboard looks stunning with a gloss and polish finish and Gerry's signature 'lightning bolt' rail spray.

The 'Fish' first appeared in the 1970's after Steve Lis created his during the early days of the shortboard revolution. Over the last 50 years pretty much every shaper on the planet has produced his take on the Fish, from fat and wide twinnies to the modern performance fish of today.

Gerry's Something Fishy is the perfect blend of old school outline and his own beautiful rails, bottom contours and rocker. This board has plenty of foam distributed throughout with the wide point under your chest, so it paddles well and catches waves early giving the rider more time than on a normal performance shortboard. This modern quad-fish design delivers the perfect balance of drive, hold and the ability to turn. You get a similar feel and the speed delivery of a twin-fin with the added benefit of some control and hold that the quad fin setup delivers. Available in sizes ranging from 5'6 to 6'4, the Something Fishy could find a home in almost any riders quiver, from first time shortboarder looking to size down from a mal etc all the way to seasoned ripper looking for a small-wave weapon when the performance shortboard just won't cut it.

Gerry played a huge part in the shortboard revolution of the late 1960's and early 1970's, charging his home breaks in Hawaii and blazing the trail to the now legendary spots of G-Land, the islands off Sumatra and Bali. Still surfing in his 70's and looking fit as ever, Gerry is designing and shaping some truly unique boards which keeps his surfing journey alive and heading forwards. This collection of surfboards represents the quiver he travels with surfing the world's ultimate destinations.

Gerry's Surftech surfboards are built using Surftech's True Ride Fusion Poly technology, a traditional construction with a polyurethane core with polyester resin which is then glossed and polished. This construction produces a beautiful looking surfboard which surfs as well as it looks.

The team here at Boardshop are absolutely stoked to be stocking these incredible looking Gerry Lopez surfboards and would happily consider taking your old or unwanted surfboard as a trade-in against one of these beautiful models.

Awesome experience
Great service all round. I’ll definitely be using these guys again. They got me something fishy in time for a perfect swell last week. I only got wet because of the guys at Boardshop. I can’t thank them enough. Cheers guys!

Great small wave board
Got the 5'6" 36L for my 70k frame and it's perfect. This thing is a wave catching beast. It'll catch waves easier than my other 32-34L 5'10" boards by a margin.
But. It is a groveller. (below shoulder<>). Too big a wave and I feel it's thickness doesn't let you 'connect' with the wave. And too much chop kinda has the same effect.
But. Don't let me put you off. Because as a small wave fun board, it's great! Have caught some memorable waves and had some terrific feelings. Swooping and racing, long cutbacks. Make no mistake, it'll put a smile on your dial.

Fantastic
I used a friends one a few years back and it was incredibly fast and really easy to turn. You can also get really nice down the line gliding, much more a cruiser than anything else. I surfed it in 4 ft clean waves and it was great, I am actually going to buy one my self when I can afford it
