Description

The Lib Tech Surfboards X Lost Crowd Killer surfboard.

Could surfboard construction Nirvana actually be here?

As surfers we've all dreamed about owning a high performance surfboard with all the positive attributes of a traditional PU board but with none of the inherent fragility that comes with this construction.

Lib Tech are about to change everything you know about surfboards and everything you thought was possible in surfboard construction.

Using 31 brand-new components to the surf industry and calling on 30 years of experience constructing environmentally friendly surfboards, skateboards and snowboards, it was inevitable that Lib Tech were going to produce some remarkable surfboards using this ground breaking, environmentally friendly manufacturing process. Each of the Lib Tech surfboards is handcrafted in the USA with an unwavering focus on building THE toughest high performance surfboards in the world with a commitment to operating in an environmentally responsible manner.

The construction process uses a Nitrogen cell Foam (25-40% recycled content) core for maximum strength and pop. The foam is closed cell, completely waterproof and won't absorb water.
Hexzylon Fibre Foam Skin, this is a smooth, strong, impact and ding resistant layer with the signature Hex pattern.
Next comes the unique Woven Basalt Fibre which is additive free super strong and resists heel dents.
The Bio-Matrix Resin is super strong and environmentally friendly with the best flex qualities of traditional PU and a longer lifespan than Epoxy.

Lib Tech surfboards are fitted with the lightest and toughest fin boxes on the market which are compatible with Pro Box, FCS, and all FCS dual tab style fins. They also use Sprock Blocks at the tail to add even more durability to the most fragile areas on the board. Even the leash plug has been given the same attention with 6061 T6 Aircraft aluminium pins and lightweight fibre composite cups.

"Since I first saw Lib Tech's ECO ISO construction, I wanted to build a board with it. The strength to weight ratio, eco minded materials and techniques, and the fact that this tech was being built in the USA was incredibly interesting to me. I am stoked that the time has finally come and hope people enjoy riding them as we have enjoyed building them." - Matt Biolos

The clue is definitely in the name; the idea behind the Crowd Killer was to create a super-fun board which would paddle fast, catch heaps of waves and still really perform once the back foot was engaged.

The Crowd Killer borrows the rocker and outline from the Quiver Killer (one of our best selling surfboards), then the length was extended to open up its appeal to a much wider audience.

The Crowd Killer has a pretty unique outline with wave catching wider nose which has been given a nice little flip-tip to prevent pearling and help its longer length fit into the curve of the wave.

Things get interesting at the tail with a tasty little bump-swallow which feels really nimble and animated in fun conditions and can still hold a line in more challenging waves. The overall rocker is pretty flat part from a significant lift in the tail to loosen things up and encourage some radical wraps when the situation arises. The Crowd Killer has been given Matt's new "Hidden Volume" treatment; a two-stage deck-line which centres the foam around the stringer and then tapers out to the rails. This allows the board to carry plenty of volume without the bulky rails often associated with boards of a longer length.

Surfing here in the UK has exploded over the last decade and along with web cameras and surf forecasting websites has led to ever burgeoning crowds on all manner of craft. For those that refuse to surrender to the longboard (or perish the thought....a paddle board!) the Crowd Killer is a really exciting prospect. There is a multitude of short and wide groveller boards for smaller conditions out there and while these boards can turn average surf into super-fun sessions they do sometimes lack paddle speed and are often beaten to the wave by the surfers on longer faster paddling boards. This is where the Crowd Killer really comes into it's own; the extra length will give you that extra paddle speed and early wave entry and the clever double bump tail and performance rails will really perform in both mediocre and good quality surf conditions.

Grab yourself a Crowd Killer and make a nuisance of yourself at home and on your travels.

Perfect fit
Rather than accepting my elderly surf status and going for what us older guys normally do which is end up on a longboard, I got myself a crowd killer.
At 7'6" it has enough length to get you in there early. The shortboard curves give you the abilility to keep the thing on its rails and the volume makes paddling a breeze.
The Libtech construction means this board will last much longer than a standard board so there's better value for money also.
Top service from Boardshop.

Great Board for Solid Days
Bought to ride the marina on bigger days when there is loads of water moving around. When you need something that can handle a drop. Surfed it this morning after the storm last night. Was exactly what I was hoping for. It is something that you can use to paddle you into position and take off early. This did exactly that and allowed me to get some nice big drops. The rails held in well. Have ridden it as a Thruster with the Lib Tech Mediums. Felt it needed a bit more hold so went for a quad today worked well. Very happy with this board.

Just impressive...
I started to surf recently upon moving to Dubai in the UAE. I bought a second hand custom 9.1 longboard and then I got in touch with Ian to see what could I get which would be better for logistics (appartment with elevators). He got me into the crowd killer. I am 100kg, beginner and in Dubai we have small, not powerfull waves, I bought the 7.2. The board is amazing at catching waves (I reckon even better than my thin, performant longboard). However compared to the longboard, it is much more sensitive once on your feet. So for beginners moving down from LB, it is really a good board however it will take some time to get used to the extra performance
Special thanks to Ian for the service. Definitely recommend boardshop.
