Description
The Walden Deviled Egg surfboard is a versatile Swiss Army Knife type shape that will handle a wide range of wave conditions from waist to overhead and would serve as a cracking travel board.
To create this beauty Steve reached back into his archives and started with a classic mid-length egg outline and added his trademark Magic Model concave bottom and hard rails. The result is a board that combines Steve's traditional roots and experimental design philosophy. A pulled-in nose, rounded pin tail, and longdrawn-out curve through the middle of the board's outline are a few of the features that make the Deviled Egg a highly maneuverable yet smooth-riding hybrid. The Deviled Egg also has plenty of volume to get into waves early, plus just enough rocker and nose kick to handle steeper drops.
The Walden Deviled Egg is built with Surftech TRUERIDE construction which consists of a polyurethane core, polyester resin and model specific fiberglass layups specked to achieve the right balance between weight and durability. If you want a Surftech board and want the feeling of a classic surfboard TRUERIDE is construction for you. This technology results in a lively and 'springy' feel which powers the board out of turns and maintains a great feel for the surfboards lifespan.
In 1961 Steve Walden shaped his first surfboard at the tender age of 13 and some 8 years later opened his own factory in Huntington Beach California. Steve then relocated to the North Shore of Oahu where he rapidly built a reputation as the shaper of quality Longboards. Still shaping today, Steve reckons he's shaped somewhere north of 20,000 boards and if he's not mowing foam you'll find him surfing his favourite Oahu breaks.
The Boardshop team are stoked to be stocking Steve Walden's legendary surfboards after our customers kept asking if we could get them. We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Walden surfboard, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to info@boardshop.co.uk or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.
