Description

Another slice of genius from the man who bought us all the Evo, arguably the best board of all time...introducing the Revo from Firewire and the main man Tomo. Throw in a ground breaking new construction from the masters of tech at Firewire and you've got a board that is going to be a massive hit. Lets talk about the board first and the tech a little later.

The Revo features Vee Quad Concave (VQC) as we know from the Evo this is the cutting edge in performance hull design. VQC combines the exceptional manoeuvrability and rail-to-rail transitions of a vee hull with the lift and response of quad concave to provide the most unique surfing experience, this is where the speed comes from, is there a faster board out there? The board paddles well for easy wave catching and you'll love the speedy transitions. The REVO has a refined outline curve and a higher rocker than the Evo allowing it to perform more radical turns in the pocket of the wave. The deep central spine of the vee provides plenty of directional control. The design can still be ridden as a thruster, though it is recommended to use a smaller rear fin or a 2+1 setup. Some people call the Revo and performance Evo and that pretty much sums it up, all the good points of the Evo with added performance in bigger punchier waves where the Evo loses its edge. The influence of Slater is plain to see here. He worked on the Sci-Fi 2.0 and FRK in this construction, standard shortboards to start with but has produced an essential addition to any quiver in the Revo.

Ibolic construction is a leap forward in surfboard manufacturing with the best elements of LFT and Helium combined. This Patent Pending technology is built into the core blank construction to create preloaded structural flex together with structure strength and durability. The Revo has Fibre Reinforced I-Beam high density foam stringer down the centre with Parabolic Rail Springers from nose to tail. There are three independent points for flex control and break resistance. I-Beam ensures firmness underfoot and unparalleled strength. The two Parabolic Rail Springers enable even flex and give great recoil through your turns. I-BOLIC Technology is an engineering feat that builds performance into the core of the surfboard there are no external carbon layups or heavy laminations with this cracking tech. What this all means is that get a board that is stronger than a helium board and has the feel of an LFT with even faster recoil, this tech is really nicely weighted too, you'll surfer faster and harder all in the knowledge that the Ibolic tech is Firewire's toughest yet.

Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Firewire surfboards across Europe and beyond, we've been with them since the very start. Firewire surfboards are more durable than other surfboard manufacturing processes, and for 90% of surfers they will improve your surfing. Firewire is pushing the limits of applying new technology and innovation to surfboard design and always has an eye on the environmental impact of what they do, they truly are different to the other board companies out there. Firewire have come a long way since the early boards and the range of shapes and tech just gets better and better. A big chunk of the boards in the range are perfectly suited to the waves that 90% of us surf on a regular basis so if you haven't already give them a try. The staff here have surfed pretty much every board in the Firewire range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Firewire surfboards.

We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new Firewire, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to [email protected] or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.

Super lively and loose
Super light, skatey, loose, fast & fun. Probably important to say: It's my first FireWire, I mostly surf PU/Polys or Lib Techs, but have had other EPS/Epoxys before.
It surfs totally different than any other board in my quiver. Needs some time to adapt, but you feel in the first seconds, that it’s an amazing board. The vee really helps for super quick and effortless turning.

Anyways - I wanted a lighter board for the pool at Surftown Munich and so far I’m more than impressed.
I also believe in the innovative shaping ideas of Tomo.

Customer experience with boardshop is next level. Don’t be afraid of buying stuff to mainland Europe. They will do the best to minimise taxes & duties.

Stoked.

Revo Review
I'm 5'7 and 70kg with 5'8 revo 33ltrs in AWT. Great service and quick delivery from boardshop and fun chats with Ian.
Could easily see a 5'9 or 5'7, 5'6 working in different scenarios wish I could have 2 boards! 5'8 gives me the paddle of a midlength but the performance of a hybrid shortboard, it turns on a dime but would hesitate to relate it to a hpsb in performance although it is possible to really throw it around. I think a smaller/shorter than what you would usually ride as a hpsb would work better for performance because it is a lot of board. (Think of adding a phantom 3-6 inches onto the revo because of the short nose and continuous rail outline and extra thickness of the board making it much more than the length would suggest. I think the 5'6 could be a magic board for the ocean for me? I got this also for the wave pool so sized up a bit for that. The AWT works fine in the ocean as well so happy with that. Construction is great and not as floaty as other EPS constructions I have tried and is still looking new. Handles punchy conditions and also surprising goes really well through fatter sections particularly as a quad. The channels and inside concave and vee all the way through just generate so much speed but it also move from rail to rail so easily. It is amazing as a quad, the best thing about the revo as it feels almost like a thruster but with quad speed. I am now also enjoying it as a thruster with a much smaller centre fin. If I need to race a fast big wall wave or get more speed to get past sections I run it as a quad. If it is more pockety and a more peaky swell both the thruster and quad are great.
I run quad with large H4 fronts with machado sunday side bites!, supposed to be identical to seaside rears but not a whole set, and the thruster as Machado Twin plus trailer set up, both are magic.
It won't knife a take off or go to the air quite like a hpsb but it does everything else really well other than super pitchy waves or tiny grovelling waves but it works very well at waist high and above. So a great one board to take out for a good variety of conditions. Enjoy, its a good-un if you can get over the way it looks.

More fun that anyother!
This board has exceeded my expectations. It is like the first time I surefed an EVO 6 years ago but now with a completely different board.

The only feature that the EVO and the REVO share maybe the outline. The rest of the characteristics are different. The REVO has more rocker, thiner rails and... a vee from tip to tail.

The REVO is better adapted to the steep waves of my hometown. I haven't tested in weak surf, but seems that would work.

I have no other similar boards to compare with. I have the FRK, that delivers the needed control in all the most critcal situations (above 6ft waves). I have also de FRK+ that has all what is expected in a conventional board. These days maybe the FRK+ is the competitor of the REVO in my quiver and I preffer the REVO by far but this is just my preference.

Boardshop, as always, fabolous!! They have helped in the shipment from UK to Spain. For those who are thinking in getting a board from UK to EU: To the (1) price of the board, add (2) shipment costs, (3) VAT tax (called IVA in Spain to be paid in DHL) and (4) custom fees (in my case 64€). The shipment is similar to the old days but with some more burocrazy and more expensive (custom fees). You would better buy those with a good discount to be competitive with the prices in EU.

You need one !!!
This board is an absolute dream to ride. I was on the edge with this board and debating if it was the right board for me but I can not exaggerate enough how insanely good this board feels to ride. Iam currently running the quad endorphins and they seem to be the perfect match and would highly recommend for this board. Please get one !!!

Best board ive ever owned
Was thinking of buying the firewire seaside but after a back and forth with the lads at board shop I decided on going for the REVO. They said it would suit me better here in Ireland and man were they right. The improvement ive seen in my surfing which has been stagnant the past year is incredible. The board is so responsive underfoot and yet incredibly stable well up into overhead surf. I went for a 5"8 (I'm 5"11 and 80kilos) on boardshops recommendation and they were spot on. thought id be worried riding such a small board as im used to 6"4 and up but I vent struggled at all and dare say this is the best board ive ever owned! Cant wait to take it out again, thanks to the lads for a solid reccomednation and incredibly quick delivery service (8 days to Ireland!). board was well packed and arrived unscathed. Cheers

Great service and board
Ordered late afternoon arrived next day, well package! Great service!
The board flies and catches waves so early (as Ian @boarshop warned) that the first few take offs I went over the falls…. However once I got my head around the take offs, it was fast and very responsive. The higher volume did not affect the responsiveness (I’m 5’11 and 14 stone and the wrong side of 45) it’s a great board and the team at the board shop are top notch!

Revo - oh yes it's magical
I talked with Ian at Boardshop about his Revo and how it rides - he was loving his so I got one. Man am I glad I did! It is a magical board. It is fast - like properly fast, whips turns and paddling is like a foam hiding magic trick. Not all surfboard are the same - this one is magical.
