Description

To meet the demand for a groveller board, Form Surfboards created the Flow Stik Mini. Designed by Alan Stokes and Luke Hart, it offers summer fun in smaller waves. With a low rocker for paddle speed and a curvy outline for manoeuvrability, it excels in beach break conditions. The board features a single concave in the nose for lift and speed, transitioning to a deep double concave through the fins for rail-to-rail transitions and forward propulsion, especially with quad fins. For head-high surf or a more predictable feel, thruster fins are recommended.

I love surfing again. If you’re thinking of getting one, just do it. You won’t be disappointed.
I LOVE this board. I was looking for a new surfboard to help re-ignite my passion for surfing and the Flow Stik really delivers. I’m an older guy and so wanted something that would be easy to paddle and would get me into waves early. It also needed to replace a much-loved, much-surfed 7’2” magic carpet. I told all this to the guys at Boardshop and they recommended a 6’ 8” Flow Stik. I was a bit unsure about the length, thinking it might be a little too short for me. But the guys assured me it would be perfect. They were right; it paddles like a dream and catches everything I go for. And more waves equals more fun. Like I said, I love this board. And because of that, I love surfing again. If you’re thinking of getting one, just do it. You won’t be disappointed.

So much fun. Best mid length ever!!
First of all, a huge shout out to the guys at the Boardshop. I’d sent several emails over a period of weeks seeking their advice about the Flow Stik. The team were always happy to help and put together a great package for me with the board, fins etc. Top guys to a man!!

So, the Flow Stik....get one!!! I bought this mainly as a travel board in the TST construction. 6’10 in length. I usually surf performance longboards or mid lengths in the 7’6 range but wanted something a little smaller for travel or bigger days. This board is amazing!! I’ve surfed it in a quad and as a thruster from waist high reef breaks to head and a half point break. It does everything the team said. Paddles like a dream pulling into waves super early. Loads of speed down the line and turns on a 5 pence. Get the rail game going, cut back, throw some spray, glide, soul surf. This board covers all bases.

Ohhhh Yeah!
So I've had the chance to ride the board a couple of times, its a super groveller that you can actually surf. i've riden it in 1-3ft conditions from chop and filth to clean and small....

it's a case of.... we've all seen the video of Alan surfing it in awful conditions at Fistral and making it work.... and we're all thinking yeah, but he'd make anything work....right?

Well, i've got to say.... I can see why, the board has ridiculous speed, its quick and responsive at take off, it's not like other Super Grovellers where you have to be a bit gentle taking off on them.... this has so much speed you can chuck it around straight from the get go..... then there's the channel under neath, that gives you lift an even more speed! Even in the 1-2ft of wind swell filth that you'd really think... do I really need a surf that badly!!!! It works... it really does.

The only part that has taken a bit of getting used to (and I surf a Cymatic as my main board) is that it feels very stiff, not in a fin way, its manoeuvrable, but you sort have to compensate for lumps and bumps on a wave, in a way that other boards seem to be able to absorb them.... sounds a bit weird... but if you try one you'll understand what I mean.... it's not a negative but its different to a lot of boards i've surfed... it has a uniqueness.

In summary, its a progressive step from a Bean Bag, but without losing any of the pro's of having a super groveller. Really easy to surf... never been on it and not had a good surf... its super fun, affordable (compared to other brands) well made, robust.... I love it, a number of guys have asked about it in the line up, its a fantastic board for lesser days and summer.... get one... you'll have a blast on it!

Just get one ...
After a long break from surfing, and thinking I could pick up where object.off, plus with the added benefit of being 20kg heavier through powerlifting I was jaded with my lack of progress of my trusty old 5'10 for obvious reasons.

Spoke to the guys at Boardshop who advises to get the Form Flow in either 6'6" or 6'8". I must admit I was dubious and thought I'd need a much bigger board- but I was wrong. The guys advised the length would be ample and the volume is critically in all the right places ... and they weren't wrong.

Ridden this so far in weak 3-4ft swell and it flies. So stable, and set up as a quad has an insane amount of drive. Improved my wave count 200% easily. I've fallen back in love with surfing because of this board ... just get one!

Super board to progress
This board handles so well picks up small waves and big ones with ease I went for the 6.2 loads of volume and great step up, allows for me to progress with ease, I highly recommend this stick.
Thanks to Matt who gave me invaluable advice

Expert advice saved me making a mistake thanks guys
Ok so I am an intermediate surfer and wanted a board to progress my skills I have a 7.4 minimal and wanted a shorter board, as I am 6ft and weigh 86 kilos iand because of my skill level I could not go for something with too low a volume. The guys recommended a 6ft Form mini flow stick! I went for the 6.2ft just wanted that little bit extra volumn.
Took it out yesterday with really small waves it amazed me as it was picking up so well this board is amazing and I can see its going to take me to the next level, can't wait for the waved to pick up.

7ft Flowstik So far so good!
Service: Excellent I rang and emailed several times over a period of weeks to discuss and Roger and the team were always happy to help. Delivery: Excellent, delivered the following day with no drama. The Board: 7ft FlowStik so far so good but only been out twice. In fact this board possibly saved a life on saturday! Me-49 6ft 80kg surfing 30 years, mainly Porthcawl, using an 8ft minimal for most days and a fat 7'2 when it gets over 6ft. I wanted a board that would catch waves like the minimal and turn like the Short(er)board. The flowstik had less volume but on the first session (clean 4ft) from first wave it was catching at least as well if not better than the minimal and easier to turn. Exactly what I wanted. 2nd session on Sunday was a messy 2ft and I was still getting as many waves as the longboarders. Really need to see how it works on a 6ft+ day or on the point break near to Porthcawl (which I will not name). Being goofy I surf the lefts in the corner of Rest near the cliffs. The unwary get caught by the current which can drag you off around the cliffs. Happened to some guy Saturday who panicked, I was able to hang on to him & tow him away for long enough for the lifeguards to see and paddle out to get him back to the beach. So he was saved - either by my arms or the flow stick take your choice guys! Anyway I am really pleased so far but to give a full and honest review I need to see this on a big day so it might have to wait until Sept/Oct. For now I am a happy man and my minimal and shortboard are consigned to the shed.

Excellent service
I can’t actually review the board yet because I haven’t had a chance to use it! Only two more weeks till Gwithian.
But I can review the level of service and help I received when trying to decide which board would be suitable for my needs.
Matt was absolutely brilliant and happy to spend a long time discussing my exact requirements. He was very knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to deal with!
I’ve been surfing for a couple of years but only 2-3 times a year so I certainly wouldn’t class myself as an expert but I felt it was time to invest some money in a proper board and take my surfing to the next level.
I had spoken to many surf shops and none of them seemed particularly interested in talking to me because I was just a beginner, but we’ve all got to start somewhere!
I’m 41 years old, 6.2” tall and about 15 stone so I’m not a young spring chicken anymore.
The 7.6” Form Flowstick sounded perfect for my requirements and I can’t wait to get to Gwithian and try it out!
The board arrived exactly when it was meant to and it was packaged well.
It looks amazing in the flesh and I can’t wait to use it.
Big thanks Board shop.

Perfect board for me!
Matt was extremely helpful in guiding me to this board, based on the input I provided him on my ability, age, size and goals. I was skeptical of stepping down from a mini Mal to a 6'6" board, but Matt was confident this was a great fit for me. After 6 sessions in various conditions I am thrilled to say Matt was exactly right. I love this board and the carving turns I can make on it. Very pleased with the board and grateful for the excellent customer service!

have surfed for 20+ years and got one of the 6 8s for smaller days and to beat the crowds, don't surf anything else now. its incredible its a shortboard in good waves a cruiser in average waves and a groveler in poor waves. bit gutted i'll never buy another board again until this one wears out
